How to vote
You can vote in person, curbside, or by mail.
Voting for what?
Voters will elect a new council - six councillors and a mayor - plus five trustees for West Vancouver school board (SD45).
The District of West Vancouver’s Election Office is responsible for running the local election, while Elections BC administers the campaign financing and election advertising rules.
Who can vote?
Canadian citizens, 18 or older, residing in BC for 6 months and in the district of West Vancouver at the time of voting.
Non-resident property owners are also given a vote, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria. Read more here.
Advance voting
Vote in person on:
- Tuesday 7th October
- Friday 10th October
- Sunday 12th October
All advance voting takes place at West Vancouver Municipal Hall.
Election Day
Saturday 17th October 2026
Vote in person at 7 locations from West to East:
- Gleneagles Community Centre
- Rockridge Secondary School
- Irwin Park Elementary School
- West Van Community Centre
- Municipal Hall (17th Street)
- Hollyburn Elementary School
- Ridgeview Elementary School
- Westcot Elementary School
Curbside voting
Curbside voting is available at all of the above locations and dates for voters who need it.
Vote by mail
- Download the application form here, or pick one up from WV Municipal Hall.
- Complete it and return by email. Or you can return by mail, or in person, to Municipal Hall.
- For applications received by 28th September, mail ballot packages will be mailed out; otherwise they can be picked up from Municipal Hall.
- Completed ballots must be returned by mail or in person by 8pm on Election Day (7th October 2026).
Not registered?
You can register at the time of voting. ID is required — see the voter identification requirements.
